Database Consultant

We are seeking a highly experienced Database Modernisation Specialist to lead large-scale Oracle-to-AWS Aurora PostgreSQL transformation programs in Perth. This role focuses on deep database architecture, domain decomposition, and enterprise-scale data migration.

Key Responsibilities

• Design domain-based schema decomposition and data ownership models

• Normalize legacy Oracle databases and remove cross-schema duplication

• Convert PL/SQL (procedures, packages, triggers) to PL/pgSQL / API-based services

• Build compatibility layers for phased (dual-run) migration

• Lead Oracle to Aurora PostgreSQL migration using AWS SCT & DMS

• Replace Oracle features with AWS/PostgreSQL-native solutions

• Optimize Aurora PostgreSQL performance (indexes, partitions, query tuning)

• Design CDC pipelines for data replication across domains

• Manage secure DB-to-cloud connectivity (VPN, SSL, Wallet, ACLs)

• Plan cutover, rollback, and zero-downtime migration strategies

• Collaborate with infra/app teams for end-to-end migration delivery

• Mentor teams on database modernization best practices
