Public Relations Account Executive

In The Making

Is your next best career move In The Making?

If you’ve got about a year or so of PR under your belt and want to keep growing - read on!

We're after someone who can craft a first draft, demolish a deadline and bring all the receipts (read: coverage reports, media lists and literal receipts in budget trackers).

You're past the initial "learning the ropes" stage and ready to take real ownership (but with a senior team in your corner whenever things get spicy).

This role begins as a four-month full-time contract, with the intention of transitioning to a permanent position if there’s a strong mutual fit.

About ITM

We're a PR and comms agency that's big on heart, high standards, and even bigger ideas.

Headquartered in Brisbane (with a footprint in Melbourne), we work across traditional PR, brand campaigns and social content.

Our current client list includes brands like Savers Australia, Expedia Group, Australian Road Safety Foundation, Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section), Century Yuasa Batteries, GoCurly, Durack Civil, Zesty Paws and Legacy Livestock.

We've built our business by putting people first, creating work that leaves a mark, and always aiming higher - for ourselves, our clients and each other.

About the position

The AE is the engine room of the account team. You'll keep things moving, accurate and on-brief, while building your media muscles and stepping up when there's a chance to learn.

It's a hybrid gig (2–3 days in our South Brisbane office, the rest wherever you do your best work). Ideal for someone who's organised, curious, and genuinely keen to grow into a publicity powerhouse.

You'll:

  • Be hands-on across day-to-day account activity (PR, media, content, the lot)
  • Draft first-cut media releases, alerts, bios, blog posts and pitch notes
  • Pitch stories to journalists with growing confidence (we'll help you build the chops)
  • Build and maintain media lists, influencer databases and activity logs that actually make sense
  • Keep contact reports, WIP docs and meeting minutes tight, timely and on point
  • Track budgets and flag anything wobbly before it becomes a problem
  • Liaise directly with clients, suppliers and partners on the day-to-day stuff
  • Get stuck into event coordination, media calls and onsite support when the moment calls for it
  • Know when to back yourself - and when to tap a senior team member on the shoulder

You Bring:

  • About 12 months in PR, comms or an agency environment
  • Sharp writing skills and attention to detail (the kind that spots the typo before anyone else does)
  • A solid feel for the media landscape - and what makes a story worth pitching
  • Organisational skills that let you juggle multiple deadlines without dropping the ball
  • Initiative in spades (you can take direction but also ask the right questions, and aren’t afraid to offer new thinking)
  • A proactive, adaptable mindset and genuine eagerness to keep levelling up
  • The sense to know when something needs escalating to the team's big guns

The Fine Print

Occasional after-hours and weekend work comes with the territory (we'll always be reasonable, promise). Some interstate travel may pop up too.

Client allocations may shift over time - that's the nature of agency life, and it's what keeps things interesting.

Our Culture

We work hard, play hard, and put people first.

We recognise that agency means swings in workload pressures, so we promote taking downtime when it is afforded, with the expectation that we rally together when it is not.

That's why you'll find us pushing boundaries, celebrating wins, checking in on each other, and showing up as our full selves - not because it looks good in a creds deck, but because that's how we want to work and live.

How to apply

Forget the stale cover letter - we’re not fussed if you were Cricket Captain or on Wag Watch in high school. Instead, we want to know how you got here and where you want to go.

Can you send a short pitch that covers off these three key questions:

  • Why did you choose PR?
  • Where do you want your next position to take you? Or teach you?
  • What do you bring to the table?

Send your resume and your “pitch” to ***email_hidden*** or reach out to Chief Maker, Frankie, on 0431 296 499 if you want to chat before hitting send.
