Senior Accountant - Development & Construction (Solar + BESS)

Anza Power

ANZA Power is building utility-scale solar farms and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across Australia. We're hiring a Senior Accountant to be the financial backbone of our development and construction portfolio - leading month-end close, owning the CAPEX tracker, managing drawdowns, and partnering with our auditors and tax advisors.

If you've worked on large capital projects and want to put your stamp on Australia's renewable energy transition, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll do

• Lead month-end, quarterly, and year-end close - including journals, accruals, reconciliations, and the monthly P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and CAPEX reporting pack for the Executive and Board.

• Prepare statutory financial statements for project SPVs, HoldCos, and the consolidated group under AASB / IFRS.

• Own the CAPEX tracker across the solar and BESS portfolio - tracking commitments, accruals, EPC and BoP progress claims, and Cost to Complete / Estimate at Completion.

• Manage capitalisation of project costs under AASB 116 / AASB 138, including borrowing costs (AASB 123), and the transition from development to construction to COD.

• Drive project cost forecasting, CAPEX phasing, and budget vs forecast vs actual variance analysis.

• Coordinate equity and debt drawdowns under project finance facilities and own intercompany loan reconciliations across SPVs and HoldCos.

• Lead the half-year and full-year external audit, prepare BAS / FBT / GST returns, and partner with tax advisors on income tax, R&D, transfer pricing, and thin capitalisation.

• Reconcile commitments, purchase orders, accruals, and invoices to ensure cost integrity across the project ledger.

What you'll bring

• CA or CPA qualified.

• 5-7+ years' post-qualification experience, with strong exposure to the development and/or construction phase of capital projects in renewables, utilities, or infrastructure.

• Proven ownership of month-end close and statutory reporting in a multi-entity environment.

• Hands-on experience with CAPEX tracking, project cost forecasting, drawdowns, and intercompany loan management.

• Solid technical knowledge of AASB 116, 138, 123, 16, and 112 as they apply to capital projects.

• External audit, BAS / FBT, and tax-advisor partnering experience.

• Advanced Excel; Power BI and ERP exposure (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or Workday) is a plus.

• Pragmatic, commercially-minded, and confident working with non-finance stakeholders.

Why ANZA Power

• base + superannuation + annual performance bonus.

• Hybrid working from our Melbourne CBD office.

• Ongoing professional development and CA / CPA membership support.

• A genuine opportunity to shape a fast-growing renewables portfolio and contribute to Australia's clean energy future.
