Director, Insurance Lines

In this busy role you will be responsible for management and oversight of a range of complex insurance policy matters in Commercial lines.

This includes professional indemnity insurance, public liability insurance, medical indemnity insurance, industrial special risks, and other business lines

Other responsibilities include identifying policy issues relevant to the insurance industry in consultation with key stakeholders (State and Commonwealth governments, regulators, other industry and professional associations);

Preparing policy submissions and advocate to government representatives in support of industry goals and the efficient and effective operation of the industry;

Contribute to the design and development of strategic policy initiatives affecting the organisation

Maintaining awareness of international developments in key areas such as regulation of the insurance and financial services industry, political and regional developments, globalisation, world economic and social trends;

Establishing and maintain high level relationships with government, key political and stakeholder group representatives, members of the business community and other stakeholders

To be successful in this role you will have the following -

A tertiary qualification in legal, financial, management or political science.

7+ years’ experience in strategic policy development, in the prudential, financial regulation and/or taxation fields.

Experience and high-level skills that are effective in advocating, negotiating and influencing senior government representatives;

Demonstrated and proven ability to drive and lead public policy initiatives;

Extensive demonstrated knowledge and experience in the proactive research, development, formulation and analysis of public policy;

Track record and proven ability to research and analyse issues and trends and to contribute to the formulation of strategic policies and initiatives from an economic viewpoint;

Demonstrated track record to think strategically, develop innovative solutions and influence and negotiate with stakeholders to gain support for policies and initiatives;

Knowledge and understanding of key issues facing the general insurance industry including commercial lines and insurance schemes;

Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders across an industry, ensuring stakeholder needs are met, prioritised and strategically managed.
