Solution Architect — Contract

A major Queensland Government agency is seeking an experienced Solution Architect to join a large, complex technology program. You will design and deliver scalable solutions across cloud, integration, data, and geospatial systems while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design end-to-end solution architecture across applications, integrations, and infrastructure
• Translate business requirements into fit-for-purpose technical solutions
• Produce architecture documentation, technical specifications, and risk assessments
• Lead options analysis and scoping activities
• Provide technical guidance to development teams throughout delivery
• Engage stakeholders across technical and non-technical audiences
• Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture and security standards
• Participate in architecture review boards and governance forums

Essential requirements

• Proven experience as a Solution Architect in large, complex organisations
• 8+ years designing and delivering technology solutions
• Strong experience in data, databases, and location/tracking systems
• Hands-on cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Proficiency in integration technologies — APIs, microservices, ESB
• Strong understanding of Agile and DevOps methodologies

Highly desirable

• TOGAF and/or AWS certification
• Experience across both public and private sector
• Experience on large-scale government programs
• Familiarity with Queensland Government Enterprise Architecture (QGEA) framework
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills
