ABOUT OSBORNE RICHARDSON AUSTRALIA
At Osborne Richardson Australia, we specialise exclusively in the public sector, partnering with government departments, statutory bodies, and training organisations nationwide for over 25 years. We connect skilled professionals with roles where their expertise drives meaningful outcomes for the community. On behalf of our government sector client, we are seeking an experienced Communications Officer for this exciting opportunity.
ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
Our client is Queensland's largest and most experienced Vocational Education and Training provider, with a proud history of serving Queensland communities for more than 140 years and recognised as Queensland's Large Training Provider of the Year 2024. The organisation is committed to keeping customers at the centre of everything it does, underpinned by strong values of Safety First, Working Together, Focusing on the Customer, Taking Responsibility, and Showing Initiative.
The Communications team plays a central role in shaping how the organisation engages with its students, stakeholders, and the broader community — delivering high-quality, on-brand content across traditional and digital channels in a fast-paced, commercially focused environment.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a rare opportunity to join a high-profile state government training organisation on a flexible, 6-month contract with potential for extension — and do it from wherever in Queensland suits you best. As Communications Officer, you will work closely with project teams and subject matter experts to create and deliver high-quality content across multiple channels including digital, social, web, media, and internal communications.
You'll translate complex information into clear, engaging content while maintaining alignment with brand and content guidelines — making a real impact on how Queensland's largest VET provider connects with its students and community. Reporting to the Communications and Media Manager, this role is ideal for a capable, organised communicator who thrives in a collaborative environment and wants the best of both worlds — meaningful work and genuine flexibility.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Write, edit, and distribute high-quality content across multiple channels including campaigns, website landing pages, blogs, media releases, EDMs, video, social media, and project materials
• Work closely with the Senior Communications Officer, project teams, and subject matter experts to create, curate, and distribute content across traditional and digital channels
• Apply approved Brand, Content, and Social Media Guidelines across all outputs, ensuring consistent and on-brand execution across all channels
• Support delivery of direct marketing activities using Marketo — including EDMs and campaign communications, assisting with content updates, audience setup, testing, and publishing
• Brief and coordinate external providers including content writers and designers as required
• Undertake research on Centres of Excellence initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement in business processes, practices, and marketing strategies
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
• Demonstrated experience creating and delivering high-quality content across multiple channels — digital, social, web, media, and internal communications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong priority management and organisational ability
• Ability to translate complex and technical information into clear, plain English content that drives customer action across diverse audiences and channels
• Experience with digital content management and marketing automation systems — Marketo experience highly regarded
• Ability to rapidly adopt new digital platforms and work effectively across a complex, commercially focused government organisation
• Proven ability to collaborate with subject matter experts and project teams to gather information, negotiate outcomes, and meet customer needs
• Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related discipline — or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and training (highly desirable)
• Current driver's licence (highly desirable) · Criminal history check required
