The Opportunity

A high-growth FinTech seeks a hands-on Credit Strategy & Analytics Lead to improve the performance of its consumer lending products.

The scale-up already has a strong Data Science team building high-performing credit risk models. This role picks up from there.

You'll analyse customer segments, understand how they perform, and recommend which rules, limits, or product settings should be adjusted to improve margins while managing default risk responsibly.

Sitting at the intersection of lending analytics, credit strategy, product, and commercial performance, you'll conduct deep analysis, assess the financial impact, communicate the trade-offs, and recommend next steps.

The core questions this role exists to answer:

  • Which customer segments are performing well, and which aren't?
  • Where are we being too conservative or taking on too much risk?
  • Which rules, limits, or settings are hurting the margin?
  • Which changes improve margin, not just volume?
  • How do we responsibly balance revenue growth with default risk?

Day to day, you'll be:

  • Analysing customer segments, lending performance, and portfolio outcomes
  • Monitoring DPD, arrears, roll rates, vintages, losses, exposure, and margin
  • Reviewing approval performance, decline reasons, and repayment behaviour
  • Recommending changes to eligibility rules, score bands, limits, and lending settings
  • Helping test changes through controlled rollouts and post-launch monitoring
  • Working closely with Product, Credit, Data Science, Finance, and senior leadership
  • Translating messy data into clear, actionable recommendations

You'll likely have 4 to 8 years of experience in lending, credit risk, analytics, financial analysis, consulting, or fintech. What matters more than tenure is that you're hands-on with data and strong at turning analysis into commercial decisions

What you'll bring

  • Experience in lending analytics, credit risk, commercial analytics, or financial analysis
  • Strong ability to connect analysis to commercial outcomes
  • Solid SQL skills and comfort getting into the data yourself
  • Ability to segment customer populations and understand performance differences
  • Working knowledge of lending metrics: defaults, arrears, DPD, roll rates, losses, repayment behaviour
  • Commercial judgment across growth, margin, and credit risk
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to explain trade-offs simply
  • Comfort working with imperfect data and making practical calls
  • High agency, low ego, bias toward action
  • Background in consumer lending, BNPL, credit cards, personal loans, fintech, or unsecured credit is highly valued.
  • Management consulting experience is also relevant, particularly if your work was financial analysis-heavy and you have some SQL or technical capability.
