Electrical Engineer

Helios Power Solutions Group

Helios Power Solutions is a leading provider of innovative power solutions. We specialise in designing, manufacturing, and distributing high-quality power supplies and systems for a wide range of industries. Our commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction has made us a trusted name in the industry.

Quality, reliability, and safety are at the core of everything we do. Join a team where your expertise directly shapes product integrity and drives continuous improvement across the business.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Engineering & Production Manager, we're seeking an experienced Test Engineer to take ownership of quality. This is a hands-on role where you will implement and embed quality processes across production. You’ll drive the quality strategy, build robust systems, and hold teams accountable to the standards that underpin our products.

From designing test protocols through to leading root cause investigations, you'll directly impact product reliability, manufacturing efficiency, and customer confidence. You'll collaborate closely with engineering and production, but the quality function will be yours to own.

Key Responsibilities

Testing & Validation

  • Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and protocols for power electronics products
  • Perform functional, electrical, and environmental testing of assemblies and systems
  • Record, analyse, and report test data to support product validation and verification
  • Support product qualification and compliance activities

Quality Control

  • Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspections of components and assemblies
  • Ensure products meet design specifications, drawings, and quality standards
  • Maintain quality documentation, inspection records, and traceability

Ownership & Continuous Improvement

  • Own the end-to-end quality process — from incoming inspection through to final release
  • Drive root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), addressing systemic issues and improving process robustness
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to improve product quality, manufacturability, and testing processes
  • Manage the repair and rework process for returned or non-conforming products where required, ensuring thorough diagnostics, re-testing, and documentation

Safety & Compliance

  • Work safely with live electrical equipment, including systems operating at 230V AC and higher
  • Apply isolation procedures, test controls, and PPE appropriate to live electrical testing
  • Identify hazards and implement risk controls prior to and during testing
  • Stop work if unsafe conditions are identified
  • Ensure adherence to company quality systems and relevant standards (e.g., ISO 9001)
  • Maintain calibration and upkeep of test equipment and tools
  • Support audits and quality system reviews as required

What You'll Bring

  • Degree or diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in testing and quality control of electronic power systems
  • Hands-on experience with equipment such as oscilloscopes, power analysers, load banks, HiPot/insulation testing, and thermal testing
  • Familiarity with relevant standards (IEC, AS/NZS, EMC compliance)
  • Ability to interpret schematics, technical drawings, and specifications
  • Proven ability to take ownership of quality outcomes, not just execute tasks
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001 or equivalent)
  • Experience with power electronics and power conversion systems
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational and documentation skills
  • Confidence communicating across technical and non-technical teams
