JLE Group is seeking an experienced

Switchboard Electrician to join our Manufacturing & Hire division. Based in Orange, this role offers stable workshop-based work building High Voltage electrical equipment for major construction project, renewables & data centres.

About The Role

The Switchboard Electrician is responsible for the assembly, wiring, and testing of electrical switchboards, distribution boards, and related LV/MV systems, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with AS/NZS standards, project specifications, and company quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Assemble, wire, and fit-off electrical switchboards and distribution boards.
  • Install components including breakers, relays, busbars, cabling systems, and protection devices.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and layout drawings.
  • Complete panel layout and internal wiring in line with design documentation.
  • Conduct testing including continuity testing, insulation resistance (IR), functional and operational checks.
  • Identify and rectify defects or non-conformances and assist with FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and site commissioning where required.
  • Complete QA documentation, ITPs, and test records.
  • Ensure all work complies with AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules, AS/NZS 61439 Switchboard Standards.
  • Maintain accurate redline drawings and as-built documentation.
  • Follow all WHS procedures, SWMS, and safe work practices.
  • Apply lockout/tagout and isolation procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment.
  • Assist in process improvements and standardisation.
  • Mentor apprentices and junior trades where required.

Essential

What you'll bring

  • NSW Electrical Licence.
  • Electrical Trade Qualification.
  • Strong understanding of AS/NZS 3000 and relevant industry standards.
  • Experience in switchboard manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of WHS and compliance requirements including Australian standards.

Desirable

  • Well-developed management skills such as planning, organising, and evaluation.
  • Understanding and interpreting relevant Standards and Codes of Practice.
  • 7-12 years' experience in the trade.
