Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced rehabilitation registrars to join the Broadmeadows Hospital inpatient rehabilitation unit.

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.

About the Role

This opportunity is a 6-month position from February 2027 to August 2027, and from August 2027 to February 2028. The possibility of a 12-month position will also be considered. This is an Australian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (AFRM) accredited position.

Duties are varied and include the general medical care of patients, establishing and implementing a rehabilitation plan for new patients, attendance at ward rounds, case conferences and family meetings, attendance at the Rehabilitation Outpatient Clinic, as well as supervise the work of the HMO and intern attached to the unit.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Medical registration with the Medical Board of Australia under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Preference will be given to accredited trainees of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine
  • Undergraduate medical qualification as a first degree is essential – MBBS, MD, PhD or equivalent
  • Must have satisfactorily completed at least two years of postgraduate hospital experience in an Australian, New Zealand (or recognised equivalent hospital)
