About the Role -

We're looking for a Design Manager with experience in aged care, healthcare, or similar regulated environments to lead outcomes across our projects. This role is focused on bringing clarity to complex environments - balancing compliance, buildability, and user-focused design. You'll be involved from early concept through to construction, working closely with project teams, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure designs are practical, coordinated, and delivered to a high standard.

Responsibilities –

  • Lead end-to end design management - oversee the design phase of multiple projects from tender development through construction completion; ensure design deliverables meet project milestones and comply with all relevant codes and to the highest standards
  • Stakeholder and Authority coordination - liaise with consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities to obtain necessary permits and approvals. Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to facilitate smooth collaboration
  • Drive design reviews, value management, and risk mitigation to support buildable outcomes
  • Maintain strong control of design changes, RFIs, and documentation workflows
  • Chair regular design coordination meetings; ensure effective project handover to delivery teams
  • Ensure all design activities adhere to HSE policies and standards

About You -

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Architecture or Construction Management
  • Extensive commercial construction experience and minimum 3 years in a similar role - Aged Care, Retirement Living and Healthcare sector experience highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge in design standards, regulatory compliance, and the NCC
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suites including MS Project and design software such as ArchiCAD, Revit, and AutoCAD
  • Previous experience using construction management software – Procore preferable
  • Strong attention to detail and stakeholder management skills
  • Highly proactive and solutions focused
