Workforce Planning Specialist | Government | 24-week contract | Multiple Locations

THE OPPORTUITY

Our federal government client is seeking an EL1 Workforce Planning Specialist for a short term (24 week) contract, based in either Melbourne, Geelong, Sydney, Canberra or Brisbane.

In this role you will support the development and initial implementation of a contemporary, fit for purpose Workforce Plan, providing specialist workforce planning capability to ensure workforce strategy, capability, resourcing and future operating models are aligned to organisational objectives and regulatory priorities.

Key accountabilities include;

  • Undertake strategic workforce planning activities, including workforce demand and supply analysis, capability analysis and workforce modelling.
  • Identify workforce risks, critical capabilities and dependencies, and develop evidence‑based workforce planning insights.
  • Lead or contribute to the development of a refreshed Workforce Plan aligned to organisational strategy, funding parameters and future operating context.
  • Provide workforce planning input into organisational design and future‑state operating model activities, including capturing and translating workforce impacts into workforce models and scenarios.
  • Develop practical workforce planning tools, templates and documentation to support implementation and ongoing use.
  • Support implementation, monitoring and governance arrangements for workforce planning.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders and provide clear written and verbal workforce‑related advice to senior leaders.

We are looking for candidates who have experience in workforce planning, workforce analytics or workforce modelling within complex organisations, along with strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into practical workforce planning advice.

You should have strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience providing advice to senior stakeholders, and experience in the Australian Public Service (APS) or public sector environment would be an advantage.

The role can be based in Melbourne, Geelong, Sydney, Canberra or Brisbane and offers flexible hybrid working.

To be successful you must be an Australian citizen with either a current baseline clearance or with the ability to obtain.
