About the role
The Risk Advisor / Lead plays a critical role in supporting the safe and successful development of tailings storage facility (TSF) construction projects from concept through to execution readiness, working within project study teams and engineering business partners to ensure that risk management practices are embedded into all stages of TSF design and planning.
The role is responsible for leading structured risk assessments and workshops, maintaining project risk registers, co-ordination of Safety and Sustainability in Design (SSiD) planning, and ensuring alignment with the organisation’s health, safety and environment (HSE) risk management systems, policies, and procedures.
We are ideally seeking candidates with experience in construction/mining projects and SSiD.
Your responsibilities will include
- Providing subject matter expertise in risk management across scoping, pre-feasibility, feasibility, and execution planning phases.
- Guiding managers, project engineers, and discipline leads in identifying, analysing, and mitigating risks associated with TSF construction and associated infrastructure.
- Integrating SSiD processes into project study frameworks and decision-making.
- Planning, leading, and facilitating risk workshops including HAZID, HAZOP, construction risk assessments and operational risk assessments.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date project risk registers with controls, owners, and treatment actions.
- Reporting on HSE risk performance.
About the Person
- Experience in risk management within mining studies or major capital projects with experience in SSiD and TSF design and planning.
- Relevant qualifications in HSE, Risk Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in implementing HSE risk management systems in mining and project studies environments.
- Competent in Microsoft Office Suite and risk analytics platforms.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capabilities.
- Effective communicator with ability to translate technical risk concepts to operational teams.
- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
