/ Lead performance, strategy and enterprise alignment
/ Drive financial strength, operational discipline and growth
/ Partner with the Board to shape SYC’s next phase of impact
SYC is a multi-service organisation delivering employment, education, housing and social services across Australia. With more than 65 years of impact, SYC supports Australians to create a life without disadvantage, to build sustainable independence and to experience wellbeing in all areas of their lives. Operating across four states with revenue of approximately $80M, the organisation has a strong brand, established government relationships and a substantial asset base. This is a significant leadership opportunity to shape the next phase of a well-established organisation with strong foundations, scale and community impact.
Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is accountable for the overall leadership, performance and strategic direction of SYC. The role requires a balance of strategic leadership and operational execution, with a clear focus on performance, accountability and long-term sustainability. As CEO, you will lead a period focused on strengthening organisational performance and alignment, including enhancing financial sustainability, improving contract performance and embedding greater consistency, discipline and accountability across operations, while positioning SYC for future growth and major tender opportunities.
We are seeking a seasoned and commercially astute Chief Executive with a track record of leading complex organisations. You will demonstrate strong financial and operational capability, experience in contract-driven or regulated environments and the ability to engage effectively with Boards, government and key stakeholders. You will be a credible and values-aligned leader who combines clarity, judgement and decisiveness with a collaborative and empowering leadership style. You build trust, strengthen capability and deliver outcomes, while maintaining a strong connection to purpose and community impact. Experience within the not-for-profit, government or commercial sectors, with experience in human services, community services, employment services or similarly complex, multi-service environments is highly regarded.
This is a significant opportunity to lead a respected not-for-profit organisation delivering meaningful impact while shaping its next phase of performance, sustainability and growth.
