.NET Developer / Software Engineer

We are seeking experienced .NET Developers / Software Engineers to support the delivery and uplift of enterprise ICT systems within a major federal government transformation program.

This role will suit a strong backend developer with experience across C#, .NET Core, Web API, SQL, Azure DevOps, Agile delivery, automated build/deployment scripting, and cloud-based application development.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enhance C# based, n-tier enterprise software
• Build and maintain automated application build and deployment scripts using .NET Core and Microsoft technologies
• Work within Agile delivery teams using tools such as Azure DevOps
• Develop backend services using Web API and SQL technologies
• Produce clean, documented, peer-reviewed and testable code
• Support technical and business teams to resolve issues in production systems
• Contribute to analysis, technical design, project coordination and business improvement
• Manage priorities and deliver quality outcomes on time and within budget
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders across geographically dispersed teams
• Where required, support and mentor other developers

Required skills and experience

• Strong experience with C#, .NET Core and the Microsoft technology stack
• Backend development experience using Web API and SQL
• Experience across the Software Development Lifecycle
• Experience with Visual Studio
• Demonstrated experience in Agile software development methodologies and documentation
• Experience developing automated build and deployment scripts
• Experience with cloud-based application development
• Ability to produce well-designed, documented and testable code
• Experience conducting peer reviews of code, products and scripts
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent stakeholder communication skills
• Ability to set priorities and deliver quality outcomes
• High standards of professionalism and personal integrity

Desirable experience

• Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline
• Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps
• Experience with cloud-based technologies
• Experience in technical analysis and design
• Experience implementing integration requirements and end-to-end solution designs
• Ability to quickly understand complex legislative or regulated operating environments

• Working arrangements: Hybrid arrangements may be considered
• Contract period: 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027
