Project Manager

There’s a big difference between managing projects and genuinely driving them forward.

This opportunity is suited to someone who thrives in technically challenging environments and knows how to keep multiple moving parts aligned without creating bureaucracy for the sake of it.

You’ll be working closely with engineering teams, external suppliers and senior stakeholders to deliver complex programs from concept through to execution.

The role requires someone who can bring order to ambiguity. You’ll be responsible for building timelines, coordinating resources, managing risk, tracking progress and keeping delivery on course, while also being the person people trust to solve problems when plans inevitably shift.

They’re looking for someone who can confidently manage competing priorities, work through uncertainty and maintain momentum across high-pressure programs. You’ll need to be equally comfortable speaking with engineers, leadership teams, subcontractors and customers, while balancing both the finer details and broader project objectives.

The background likely looks something like this

• Experience leading projects within engineering, advanced manufacturing, robotics, automotive, defence or other highly technical environments

• Strong understanding of project delivery, scheduling, budgeting and risk management

• Ability to manage external vendors, contractors and internal stakeholders effectively

• Experience working across fast-moving programs with shifting priorities and tight deadlines

• Clear communication skills and strong commercial judgement

• Confidence working within structured project methodologies while remaining adaptable when required

• Exposure to both startup-style environments and larger engineering programs would be valuable

• Be eligible for Baseline security clearance

• Be eligible to work on ITAR related projects

• Melbourne based only
