Senior Architect

About maarch
*
maarch* is a Nedlands-based architecture practice founded by Mark Aronson in 2012. We work across multi-residential, aged care, and commercial projects — often in environments others find too complex. Our approvals intelligence capability, id3a, means we bring more than design to a project. We bring strategic thinking, planning experience, and the kind of commercial acumen that keeps a development on track.
We are a small studio by design. Every client works directly with our senior team. Principal-led delivery from concept to completion is not a marketing line — it is how we actually work.
We are currently looking for a Senior Architect to join the team.
The role
This is a full-time position based in our Nedlands studio. You will lead architectural projects across all stages — from concept and design development through to construction documentation, contract administration, and completion.
You will work directly alongside Mark Aronson on complex, commercially significant projects. You will manage your own project streams, coordinate consultants, and maintain the design quality and client relationships that define maarch*'s reputation.
This is not a drafting role. It is a leadership role for someone who is ready to take genuine ownership of a project.
What you will be doing
Leading architectural projects from concept through to completion, across multi-residential, aged care, and commercial typologies. Managing consultant coordination, client communication, and quality control at every stage. Contributing to design development and documentation with a high level of technical precision. Supporting the Principal with approvals strategy and planning advice where required. Mentoring junior team members and contributing to the studio culture.
What we are looking for
A registered architect with a strong portfolio across residential and commercial project types. Proven experience managing projects through all stages including contract administration. Proficiency in ArchiCAD — this is preferred but not a non-negotiable. A solid understanding of the WA planning and approvals environment. Someone who is technically rigorous and commercially aware in equal measure. Strong written and verbal communication — you will be talking directly to clients, consultants, and authorities. A calm, collaborative working style that fits a small, high-performing team.
What we offer
Direct access to the Principal and genuine involvement in every project. A studio that works on interesting, complex projects — not volume production. A collaborative team culture where your contribution is visible and valued. Competitive salary based on experience.
