About Our Client
As Associate Director, Workplace Relations, you will play a pivotal role in influencing national policy, representing employers in critical forums, and driving advocacy that shapes the future of work in Australia. This is a high-impact, policy-shaping opportunity at the forefront of Australia's workplace relations landscape.At the centre of national debate, ACCI advocates directly to government, regulators and international bodies to ensure Australia remains one of the best places in the world to do business. Sitting within a high-performing team, you will combine deep policy expertise with hands-on leadership-owning key strategic projects, engaging senior stakeholders, and contributing to major legislative and regulatory outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and shaping workplace relations policy and advocacy, influencing outcomes at a national level
- Representing Australian business in senior government, regulatory and international forums (including Fair Work Commission matters and global bodies)
- Driving and overseeing complex, grant-funded programs, ensuring delivery, compliance, and impact
- Providing expert analysis and insight on workplace relations legislation, regulation and reform
- Engaging directly with senior stakeholders, including ministers, regulators, and industry leaders
- Contributing to major national processes, including wage reviews and key Fair Work matters
- Building consensus across diverse stakeholders, balancing competing priorities to deliver outcomes
- Identifying emerging issues and shaping proactive policy responses

The Successful Applicant
You are a sharp, credible and driven policy professional who thrives in complex, fast-moving environments and is motivated by impact at scale.You will bring:
- Experience in workplace relations, employment law, public policy or advocacy (typically 5+ years)
- Strong understanding of Australian workplace relations frameworks, including legislation, institutions and processes
- Demonstrated ability to influence policy and represent organisations in high-level forums
- Excellent analytical, research and communication skills, with the ability to translate complexity into clear positions
- Proven capability managing complex projects or programs, ideally including grant-funded initiatives
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to operate with senior decision-makers
- A collaborative mindset, paired with the ability to work autonomously and lead priorities end-to-end
- Tertiary qualifications in law, public policy or a related discipline
