About Aeon Media Group

Aeon Media Group Ltd is a not-for-profit global digital publishing and live events company based in Melbourne. We publish the highly successful Aeon and Psyche magazines to a large international audience and present the Sophia Club, live philosophy and arts events in Melbourne, London and New York. We are preparing to open a permanent home for Sophia Club in Collingwood, Melbourne in 2027.

Roles and responsibilities

Content distribution and promotion

  • Own content distribution strategy and daily promotion schedule across all channels (new and archive content)
  • Act as the primary marketing contact for editorial teams to ensure timely and effective promotion of published work
  • Ensure all editorial output is promoted strategically, consistently and at high quality across platforms

Copywriting and performance optimisation

  • Oversee promotional copy (headlines, hooks, captions) across channels
  • Optimise content performance through testing and iteration of formats, messaging and timing
  • Develop repeatable approaches to improving engagement and content reach
  • Monitor analytics and share insights to enable the team and wider organisation to understand what works and doesn’t work

Social media strategy and execution

  • Own social media strategy and ensure high-quality execution across platforms
  • Adapt content for platform-specific formats and audience behaviours
  • Monitor platform trends and identify opportunities to improve performance

Channel strategy and audience growth

  • Develop and refine channel strategies to maximise reach and audience growth
  • Identify, test and scale new distribution opportunities, channels and platforms
  • Support audience acquisition through organic and paid distribution strategies
  • Monitor performance across channels and adjust strategy based on audience behaviour and results

Partnerships and campaigns

  • Support partnerships that expand audience reach and brand awareness
  • Lead paid and campaign-based targeting to drive audience acquisition, event attendance and campaign performance

About you

  • 5+ years marketing experience
  • Strong understanding of digital publishing, audience growth and content distribution
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, particularly for promotional and social copy
  • Experience leading the development and execution of social and channel strategies
  • Experience owning outcomes of marketing activities
  • Data-aware with a strong interest in testing, optimisation and performance
  • Proactive, organised and comfortable managing high-volume workflows
  • Strong interest in ideas, publishing and cultural content
  • Collaborative and confident working cross-functionally with editorial and marketing teams
