ROLE PURPOSE

As the Tax Accountant, you play a crucial role in supporting the Senior Tax Advisor and Senior Vice President, Group Taxation & Treasury (SVPGTT), in managing the Australian aspects of global taxation for the RWC Group. Your primary responsibility is to ensure compliance with Australian taxation laws (Income Tax, GST, and FBT), while assisting with tax strategy and governance for the global Group as necessary. In this capacity, you will assist the Senior Tax Advisor across various tax-related tasks, including return preparation, monthly BAS, FBT and provision calculations, and provide tax advice to internal stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Calculations for Tax Provisions - Assist in preparing tax effect accounting calculations for the Australian Group, for half and year-end Group reporting.
  • Consolidated Income Tax Return - Assist in the preparation of the consolidated income tax return for the Australian Group.
  • Annual review of the group’s Australian Controlled Foreign Company (CFC) position.
  • Work closely with the Senior Tax Advisor in completing the Master File and Country-by-Country reporting for the Group.
  • Collaborate with external advisers to coordinate Research and Development (R&D) claims for the Australia Group.
  • Work closely with the Senior Tax Advisor in preparing and finalizing all Australian Business Activity Statements (BAS) on a monthly basis, along with annual Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns.
  • Assist the Senior Tax Advisor in calculating and lodging income tax instalments for the Australian Group.
  • Assist the Senior Tax Advisor in monitoring and updating the Franking Account and Conduit Foreign Income Account for the Group.
  • Management of the ATO portal, including maintaining up-to-date registrations, lodgement schedules, and correspondence tracking.
  • Prepare detailed tax advice for internal stakeholders.
  • Assist the Tax Team in ongoing maintenance/monitoring of the "Tax Risk Management Program."
  • Preparation and lodgement of GloBE Information Returns (GIR) for the Group.
  • Assist in preparing franking forecasts and coordinating Transfer Pricing adjustments.

EDUCATION SKILLS & CAPABILITIES

  • A tertiary qualification in Commerce/Business, with a major in Accounting/Finance. Additionally, a CA/CPA qualification is preferred, either completed or currently underway, along with progress in or completion of an MTax program.
  • Demonstrated experience of at least 2-5 years in corporate tax within a major accounting firm or large commercial organization.
  • Ability to interpret Australian tax legislation and apply the Australian Taxation Law
  • Ability to communicate the application of the Australian Taxation law to other business partners within the organisation concisely
  • Strong written skills (memo and file note summarising the application of the Australian Taxation Law to the RWC Group)
  • Strong PC skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Experience with OneStream/SAP (preferred) or equivalent tools. Proficiency in utilising Tax Software Solutions and FBT simplifier software, or equivalent tools.
  • Understanding the business and commercial awareness is required for this role, as we need to consider the application of the Australian Tax and the associated effect on the business.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
  • The ability to interact and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholder groups is highly valued.
