As an integral part of the Charter Hall Group Finance Team, the key focus of the Payroll Officer to work with the Payroll Manager to deliver an efficient and accurate payroll function across the Charter Hall Group. This is a national role and entails a high level of engagement directly with major stakeholders including the Head of Group Finance, Treasury Manager, the People Team and the Group Finance Team. Key to the role is a thorough understanding of payroll legislative requirements and human resources practices.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you’ll:
- Assisting with the preparation and processing of the monthly payroll for approximately 600+ employees and offcycle payroll using Frontier Chris21 software
- Providing a high level of customer service in responding to payroll enquiries
- Preparation of termination calculations as required by the People Team
- Preparation of payroll reports following the payroll and as required by Finance
- Preparation of monthly payroll journals
- Providing Employment Separation Certificates to employees and as required by Centrelink
- Management of the Government paid parental leave scheme
- Assisting the Payroll Manager with tasks as required and during periods of leave

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to maintain and build relationships with multiple stakeholders
- Demonstrated capacity to work autonomously without supervision and to contribute effectively as part of a team
- Minimum 3 years’ experience within the payroll function
- Demonstrated knowledge of payroll legislation including the Fairwork Act and applicable awards.
- Experience with Chris21 system is desirable
