Senior Civil Estimator - Civil Construction

Convil Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil Estimator to join our team and take a lead role in delivering major civil construction projects across New South Wales. This is a key position where you will drive the tendering and estimating process, working closely with government agencies, private developers, and internal stakeholders.

As a Senior Civil Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates, overseeing the full tender lifecycle, and ensuring best practice in methodologies and submissions. This role offers the opportunity to lead, mentor, and refine systems within a growing and respected civil contractor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive cost estimates for civil construction projects.
  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and contract documents to ensure accuracy.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to gather project requirements.
  • Identify and quantify project costs, including labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Perform quantity take-offs and review client provided bills of quantities.
  • Utilize estimating software and tools to prepare accurate and competitive bids.
  • Prepare detailed methodologies and construction schedules.
  • Review and ensure the accuracy and quality of work completed by others during the tendering process.
  • Monitor industry trends and market conditions to maintain competitive pricing.
  • Request and review subcontractor quotes, negotiating pricing agreements when necessary.
  • Ensure all submissions meet high standards and comply with tender criteria.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to junior estimators and engineers.
  • Develop and refine estimation methodologies to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Improve systems and procedures for better workflow in estimation and tendering.
  • Maintain strong communication with the team.
  • Manage workload effectively and meet strict deadlines for tenders, reports, and cost estimates.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring strong technical expertise and leadership qualities to complement your estimating skills.

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum of Three years of experience as a Estimator in the civil construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of civil construction processes, materials, and cost estimation.
  • Familiarity with government sector projects.
  • Proficiency in using estimating software and tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Relevant degree or certification in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency required for this position.
