General Manager – Infrastructure Remediation & Civil Projects
Unify Recruitment are partnering exclusively with an exciting business, who due huge-growth operating across infrastructure and the built environment are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead the operational and commercial performance of the business.
This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the Managing Director, with responsibility for driving operational structure, commercial performance, delivery consistency and disciplined growth across the business.
The opportunity would suit an established operational leader from a remediation, civil, infrastructure or specialist subcontracting background who combines strong commercial capability with hands-on project delivery leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee delivery across multiple concurrent projects, regions and service lines
- Lead and mentor operational management teams across project delivery functions
- Ensure alignment between project programming, labour allocation and delivery outcomes
- Maintain visible leadership presence across major projects and client environments
- Drive consistency across project start-up, execution and close-out processes
Commercial & Financial Performance
- Own project margin performance and profitability outcomes across the business
- Oversee cost-to-complete forecasting, labour recovery and financial tracking
- Review tender submissions to ensure commercial alignment and risk management
- Lead variation management strategy and contractual oversight
- Protect the business from underperforming or commercially high-risk engagements
Client & Growth Management
- Represent the business within senior client meetings and project reviews
- Strengthen relationships across Tier 1 contractors, asset owners and infrastructure clients
- Identify opportunities to expand existing programmes and work scopes responsibly
- Support sustainable growth aligned to operational capacity and margin objectives
Governance & Leadership
- Strengthen operational systems, reporting frameworks and business governance
- Improve performance visibility and accountability across the business
- Develop leadership capability within middle management and operational teams
- Lead workforce planning, staffing decisions and performance management
- Reduce operational reliance on the Managing Director across day-to-day activities
About You
- 15+ years’ experience within infrastructure, remediation or civil construction
- Proven experience managing multi-project operational environments
- Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated margin and financial management capability
- Background operating within Tier 1 contractor or major infrastructure environments
- Established leadership experience managing senior project and operational personnel
- Ability to operate confidently across both site and executive-level environments
- Strong industry credibility and existing professional network within the infrastructure sector
