Process / Mineral Processing Engineer - R&D

Orivium

Company Description

Orivium is a deep-tech venture commercialising a novel electrochemical oxidant for copper leaching. Our Super Oxidiser unlocks chalcopyrite — the 70% of the world's copper that conventional heap leaching can't economically reach. We're now scaling from pilot to commercial demonstration, and we're building the technical team to do it.

Role Description

You'll work across our R&D programme — process design and testwork, pilot campaigns, scale-up of the electrochemical PDS generation system, and the technoeconomic modelling that ties it all together. You'll work directly with the CTO, the broader Orivium technical team, and our partners at universities and contract research organisations. The work is hands-on, the decisions are consequential, and the feedback loop between lab and commercial model is short.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Rigorous experimental work to optimise process efficiency, energy and reagent consumption to support technology scale-up
  • Process modelling, equipment sizing to inform commercial unit engineering design
  • Technoeconomic modelling to help prioritise commercial deals and identify key market opportunities

Qualifications

  • A degree in chemical, metallurgical, mineral processing, or extractive engineering (or equivalent practical background)
  • Some exposure to copper hydromet — pilot plant studies, R&D, or early-stage technology development. Deep copper experience is a strong advantage but not a hard requirement; we care more about judgement and curiosity than years on a CV
  • The temperament for an early-stage company: high agency, low ego, willing to own problems end-to-end

What we offer

Top-quartile salary and benefits, equity participation, a flexible location (remote, hybrid, or co-located with our partners — we'll work it out), and a seat at the table on a technology with the potential to reshape how the world produces copper.
