Details: Established in 1990, the ACT Audit Office has served over three decades to provide an independent view of the ACT Public Sector, foster accountability in the public administration of the Territory and promote efficiency and effectiveness of ACT public services.

The role: The ACT Audit Office is seeking an experienced Director, Audit Quality and Technical to lead and strengthen audit quality across the organisation.

The Director, Audit Quality and Technical is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring the ACT Audit Office’s system of quality management to ensure compliance with relevant auditing standards, policies and legislative requirements. The role leads the coordination and execution of audit quality review and inspection activities across the financial and performance audit branches, analyses findings, and monitors the implementation of improvements to enhance audit quality. It gives expert guidance on new and updated accounting and auditing standards, helps develop policies and frameworks for governance, risk, and quality, and tracks and reports on improvements in audit quality and technical practices. The Director also supports participation in Australian Council of Auditors-General (ACAG) interjurisdictional sub-committees and initiatives.

Eligibility/Other Requirements: Strong technical expertise in auditing and accounting standards and professional qualifications from CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) are highly desirable.

ACT Audit Office employees are required to undergo employment screening. The Director, Audit Quality and Technical position is a Position of Trust 1 and therefore, if you are selected, you will have Australian Government Security Vetting Agency Baseline security clearance. If you do not have Baseline security clearance, the Office will undertake an internal security assessment against this criterion, while you await to apply for AGSVA Baseline security clearance. If your Baseline security clearance application is not successful, your employment in the role will be terminated.

Notes: Selection will be based on a written application, referee reports and as necessary, an interview. A merit pool may be established from this selection process to be used to fill a vacancy of this role over the next 12 months.
