Our Energy Practice

Our Global Energy team advises across the full spectrum of energy and resources matters, acting for mining companies, petroleum producers , electricity generators, network service providers, retailers, renewable developers, energy customers, energy traders and financial institutions. We are active across major resource jurisdictions and regularly advise on complex, high-value mandates across traditional energy, the renewable energy transition and emerging technologies.

We act for a diverse client base across the energy and resources sector, including global and ASX-listed mining companies, major LNG producers, international oil and gas companies, electricity and renewable energy companies.

Our team has expertise across electricity, renewable and energy transition, oil and gas, mining, water and utilities, and advise on:

  • Major energy and infrastructure projects
  • Regulatory, legislative and policy issues
  • Commercial agreements, joint ventures and commodity transactions
  • Project development
  • Cross-border matters with global Jones Day teams
  • M&A transactions including energy asset sales and purchases

About You

You will have:

  • A minimum of 5+ years’ post-qualification experience
  • Experience in energy law, energy projects, renewables and energy transition projects, energy sale and purchase transactions gained at a well-regarded firm
  • Strong academics and technical drafting skills
  • Sound commercial judgement
  • A collaborative approach, with the ability to build strong client relationships and contribute positively to team culture
  • A willingness to mentor and support junior lawyers, contributing to their development
