Rare In-House Opportunity | Investment & Real Assets Platform

A rare opportunity for a commercially minded lawyer to move in-house into a broad role supporting a growing investment and real assets business.

The role

Our client is the Australian and New Zealand arm of a global investment management group with interests across property, operating businesses and real assets.

Reporting directly to a highly regarded General Counsel, this role offers a mix of property, commercial, transactional and governance work within a sophisticated but down-to-earth legal team.

The role will involve:

• Property acquisitions and transactions
• Commercial and operational property matters
• Supporting investment and expansion activity
• Drafting and negotiating commercial agreements
• Corporate and governance responsibilities
• Board and committee exposure
• Working closely with senior executives and external advisers

About You

You will likely have around 3–6 years’ PAE and experience in areas such as property, commercial, corporate, projects, leasing, development or broader transactional work, either in private practice or in-house.

You may be someone who:

• enjoys understanding how businesses and investments actually operate
• likes being close to transactions and commercial decision-making
• wants broader exposure than a traditional private practice role can offer
• enjoys variety rather than specialising too narrowly
• is looking for a long-term in-house career path within a sophisticated business environment

Strong communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to build relationships with non-legal stakeholders will all be important in the role.

Prior in-house experience is not essential.

Importantly, the role is not purely transactional or “deal driven” — it offers genuine variety and the opportunity to become closely involved in the commercial operation of the business.
