IT Systems Engineer Progressive Business Technologies (PBT)

At PBT, we support 500+ Australian businesses across cloud, networking, security, and M365, and we're building automation and AI directly into how we deliver. We're after an experienced engineer who likes solving real problems, working with modern technology, and is genuinely interested in where MSP work is heading.

The Role

You'll be the engineer clients call when something gets hard. Cloud migrations, security uplift, identity issues, a firewall doing something it shouldn't. The work is varied and the problems are real. You'll also help shape how we deliver: writing PowerShell that removes manual effort, extending our monitoring, and contributing to our AI-enabled services practice.

This is a hands-on role. You'll be deep in real environments solving real problems, not stuck running tickets.

What you'll work on

• Designing and deploying Microsoft Azure environments
• Managing cloud infrastructure, networking, and identity services
• Implementing cybersecurity solutions aligned to Essential Eight
• Supporting VMware and Hyper-V virtualisation
• Administering M365, including Exchange, SharePoint, Intune, and OneDrive
• Writing PowerShell automation for endpoint management, identity lifecycle, and monitoring
• Configuring WatchGuard and FortiGate firewalls and supporting network infrastructure
• Extending our Zabbix-based monitoring across client environments
• Troubleshooting complex issues across multi-client setups
• Delivering cloud migrations and modernisation projects
• Helping push our managed services further into automation and AI

What we're looking for

• 4+ years in Systems Engineering, Infrastructure, or a similar MSP/enterprise role
• Experience supporting multi-client environments
• Strong problem-solver who cares about getting customer outcomes right

Certifications (nice to have, not essential)

We back engineers who keep learning, but hands-on experience matters more than a wall of certifications. The following are well-regarded:

• AZ-104, Azure Administrator Associate
• AZ-700, Azure Network Engineer Associate
• AZ-305, Azure Solutions Architect Expert
• AZ-140, Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty
