Born is a full-service independent agency with offices in both Sydney and Adelaide. We’re B&T’s Independent Agency of the Year (under 50 people) and Mumbrella’s Emerging Agency of the Year. We build brands. We create campaigns for brands. Our work spans strategy, branding, design, campaigns, digital, production and more.
We’re three years old, so still fairly new. But we’re ambitious, nice, and building momentum. Off the back of a few pitch wins, we’re on the hunt for our next great hire.
The role
We’re looking for a Senior Creative (Art Director) to join our team in Surry Hills, Sydney.
This is a key creative role for someone who knows how to turn strategy into standout ideas, and standout ideas into beautifully crafted work.
You’ll be working across campaigns, social, digital, content, film, design-led ideas and everything in between. One day you might be concepting a big campaign platform, the next you might be shaping a launch idea, art directing a shoot, building out a deck, pitching, or helping bring a brand world to life.
We’re looking for someone with strong conceptual thinking, great taste, sharp instincts and the ability to make work feel distinctive. Someone who can think big, but also care about the details. Someone who can generate ideas quickly, push them further, and help make them happen.
You’ll be a creative person who understands that good work starts with a strong idea, but gets better through craft, collaboration and care.
What you’ll do
- Develop strong creative ideas across campaigns, brand platforms, print, content, social, digital and film.
- Work closely with copywriters, strategists, designers, producers and account teams to shape ideas from brief to delivery
- Turn strategic thinking into clear, compelling creative concepts
- Art direct campaign worlds, visual systems, shoots, layouts, storyboards and treatments
- Help build creative decks that sell the idea clearly and beautifully
- Contribute to scripts, headlines, campaign lines, social ideas and more.
- Take ideas from initial concept through to execution, making sure the work stays strong all the way through
- Work across a mix of clients, categories and project sizes
- Bring taste, energy and originality to the creative department
- Present creative work internally and to clients with confidence and clarity
- Help mentor and support more junior creatives and designers when needed
- Push the work to be sharper, braver and more memorable
- Care about craft, detail and making things feel less generic
What we’re looking for
- Solid experience in a creative agency, ideally in an integrated, brand or campaign environment
- Experience as a Senior Creative or similar role
- A strong portfolio showing conceptual thinking, art direction and well-crafted creative work
- The ability to develop ideas across multiple channels, create brand worlds, not just single executions
- Strong visual taste and the ability to shape the look and feel of an idea
- Confidence working from strategy and turning it into creative work
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work well with copywriters, designers, strategists and producers
- A good understanding of how campaigns, brands, shoots and content get made
- Someone who can think big, but still care deeply about the small stuff
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to explain ideas clearly
- A proactive, positive and solutions-focused attitude
- Know your way around Figma & Adobe Creative Suite
- Can use AI tools to bring your ideas to life in a seamless way.
