As a Lawyer in Consumer Insurance, you will provide high-quality legal advice that supports product design, compliance, and customer outcomes. You will partner with teams across product, claims, marketing, and digital to translate legal requirements into clear, practical guidance. This role offers exposure to evolving regulatory challenges and innovative insurance solutions.
What You’ll Do
- Provide clear and commercially focused legal advice on insurance policy wordings to support compliant and customer-centred products.
- Advise on compliance with laws, particularly the Corporations Act, Insurance Contracts Act, ASIC Act, Privacy Act, and Spam Act, ensuring alignment with obligations.
- Collaborate with product, claims, distribution, marketing, and digital teams to deliver practical legal solutions that enable business outcomes.
- Review marketing materials, product disclosures, and customer communications to ensure clarity, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
- Contribute to innovative legal solutions for new products, digital initiatives, and emerging regulatory developments.
- Provide legal advice on claims letters and claims procedures, ensuring customer communications are clear, compliant, and accurately reflect product terms and conditions.
What You’ll Bring
- Admission as a solicitor or barrister in Australia with a current practising certificate.
- At least 2 years’ post-admission legal experience, preferably within a top-tier or national law firm, or a large general insurer or financial services institution.
- Knowledge of insurance and financial services laws.
- Ability to translate legal concepts into clear, actionable advice for non-legal stakeholders.
- Experience managing competing priorities and delivering high-quality outcomes.
- Strong relationship-building skills, with a collaborative approach to working across diverse teams.
