The Opportunity
A global healthcare provider has partnered with Elevate and is looking for a commercially minded Legal Counsel to support a fast‑growing, highly regulated retail healthcare business.
This is a high‑impact in‑house role where you’ll help the business navigate legal risk, strengthen governance, and operate confidently at scale, locally and within a global framework.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Serve as the business’s first‑line legal adviser, providing timely, practical guidance on day‑to‑day legal matters and escalating risk issues as required.
- Partner closely with Procurement to draft, review, negotiate, and maintain commercial B2B contracts, particularly vendor and supplier agreements.
- Assist in managing consumer disputes, claims, insurance notifications, and litigation, liaising with insurers and external counsel to achieve efficient outcomes.
- Support the organization’s risk, governance, and compliance framework, including policy upkeep, regulatory monitoring, ESG and statutory reporting, and GRC system administration.
- Deliver clear, commercial legal input on projects, investigations, privacy, and healthcare‑related matters, adapting global legal frameworks for local application.
About You
- Australian‑ or New Zealand‑qualified lawyer with 3–6 years’ PQE, including at least 1-2 years in private practice (general commercial, consumer law, or insurance litigation).
- Experience in‑house or exposure to retail, FMCG, healthcare, or other regulated B2C industries is highly regarded.
- A pragmatic, solutions‑focused adviser who can translate legal complexity into plain‑English.
- Highly organised, resilient, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast‑moving environment.
- Confident working with senior stakeholders locally and globally.
What’s on Offer
- A visible, high‑impact in‑house role supporting a legal team in a growing national business.
- Broad exposure across commercial law, disputes, governance, privacy, healthcare regulation, and strategic projects.
