System Engineer

Our client is a Defence supplier and Prime Systems Integrator seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support current and upcoming projects in Melbourne.

This role will suit an experienced engineer with strong systems engineering fundamentals, capable of working across complex Defence environments and engaging directly with customers.

Location: Melbourne (On‑site with hybrid work arrangements)

Duration: 12 months (Initial)

Clearance: AGSVA NV1 (or ability to obtain)

Key Experience & Skills

• Bachelor of Engineering (ideally Electronics or Communications, or related discipline)
• 5+ years’ systems engineering experience, including requirements, design, integration, and test activities
• Experience across the systems engineering lifecycle, including customer reviews and acceptance testing
• Strong IT knowledge, including hardware and/or software installation and configuration
• Ability to work independently and within multi‑disciplinary engineering teams

Desirable

• Experience with DOORS, Visio, voice communications systems, or virtualised environments
• Knowledge of electronics theory, serial communications, or multi‑domain/cybersecurity systems

Responsibilities

• Manage and define system requirements and designs
• Conduct system integration and acceptance testing
• Support hardware installation, software deployment, and third‑party system integration
• Produce technical documentation and deliver user training
• Act as Lead Systems Engineer on assigned projects and engage directly with Defence customers
• Travel domestically and internationally as required to support project activities
