The role

The Student Representation & Governance Coordinator plays a key role in strengthening student leadership, governance, and representation at Griffith University Gold Coast.

This position supports the systems, structures, and people that help ensure the student voice is heard across campus. You’ll work closely with student representatives, Board members, Guild leadership, and University stakeholders to coordinate the Guild's governance processes, support student leaders, and drive meaningful student engagement and advocacy initiatives.

From coordinating Board and committee meetings to leading the Guild’s student elections and supporting student consultation and feedback mechanisms, this role combines governance, project coordination, student leadership development, and stakeholder engagement.

You’ll help create an environment where student representatives feel supported, empowered, and equipped to make a genuine impact for students across the Griffith community.

The position attracts a salary of between $75,418-$82,488 plus 12% superannuation and is a full-time role.

About the Student Guild

The Griffith University Gold Coast (GUGC) Student Guild is an independent, not-for-profit student association representing and supporting more than 17,000 students. We work closely with Griffith University and community partners to create a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive campus experience.

The Guild has three divisions – Student Services, Business Services, and Commercial Services – led by our Chief Executive Officer and governed by a hybrid Board of elected student representatives and external skills-based members.

This position sits within Business Services, home to the Guild’s central governance, administrative, marketing and finance functions. The team provides high-quality support and services across all areas of the organisation, helping ensure the Guild runs smoothly and delivers exceptional experiences for students every day.

Key selection criteria

Essential

  1. Bachelor’s Degree, qualifications, or equivalent work experience in Business Administration, Political Science, Student Leadership, or governance-related fields.
  2. Demonstrated understanding and experience working with governance, committee processes, boards and compliance requirements.
  3. Demonstrated experience working with student organisations, not-for-profits, community organisations or within a higher education environment.
  4. Knowledge of democratic processes, electoral regulations and governance frameworks.
  5. Proven ability to proactively manage projects, balance competing priorities and deliver outcomes on time.
  6. Knowledge and understanding of feedback and insights mechanisms and methodology, including surveys, forums and focus groups.
  7. Genuine passion for student leadership and student organisations.

Desirable

  1. Experience working with student representatives and student voice mechanisms.
  2. Knowledge of University representation systems.
  3. Experience with student engagement, consultation or advocacy initiatives.
