Are you an experienced engineer who wants to help build something from the ground up?

We’re looking for a Founding Engineer to join our early technical team and help scale the AI systems powering the education system of the future. You’ll work directly with the founders and our existing founding engineers, with deep ownership over core AI infrastructure and product-defining systems.

What Are We Building?

We’re a VC-backed EdTech company on a mission to build the education system of the future.

We’re building an AI-powered learning system designed to be the fastest, most effective, and most enjoyable way for students to learn any subject at school.

We already support 1,000+ students, are growing extremely quickly, and are investing heavily in AI as a core product capability. AI is central to everything we build.

The Role

Full-time - Founding team

You’ll:

Architect and build core AI systems used by thousands of students
Design and deploy LLM-powered features (feedback, assessment, personalisation, tutoring)
Work directly with the founders and existing founding engineers on product vision and AI strategy
Own decisions around model selection, evaluation, prompting, fine-tuning, and tooling
Build scalable, reliable AI pipelines deeply integrated into the product
Improve performance, cost efficiency, and reliability as usage scales
Help define best practices for AI development, experimentation, and deployment
Play a key role in shaping the engineering and AI culture from an early stage

You’ll start with a 4-week in-office onboarding period, working side by side with the founders to deeply understand our users, product, and technical stack.

Our Stack (Nice to Have, Not All Required)

Languages: TypeScript, Python
AI / ML: LLM APIs, prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, embeddings, vector search
Backend: Node.js
Data: Postgres, vector databases
Infra: Vercel, modern cloud infrastructure
DevOps: CI/CD, monitoring, experimentation tooling

What matters most is strong fundamentals, excellent judgment, and a bias toward building real, usable systems.

Compensation

Competitive salary + Super + equity
