Yarra Trams is proudly operated by Yarra Journey Makers, a joint venture between Transdev Australia and John Holland. We work with the Department of Transport and Planning, alongside its transport agencies and operators to provide a fully integrated, sustainable transport service for the people of Melbourne.

We’re looking for a team player to join as Manager, Diversity & Inclusion on a fixed term, 12-month contract to join and help embed diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) into the heart of everything we do. With an ideal immediate start date, the role will support the ongoing building of DEI into a business-as-usual activities, promote DEI as an enabler of driving business outcomes and support the meeting of our contractual obligations.

You’ll play a key role in shaping an inclusive workplace where diversity is valued, belonging is fostered, and everyone is supported to succeed. Working across all levels of the organisation, you’ll help influence strategic decisions and embed inclusive practices into everyday operations. This is a role where two days won’t look the same – from developing strategic business cases, to meeting with stakeholders, to getting on with delivery of work, it’s an exciting and busy role where you’ll genuinely be able to make a meaningful impact and create an environment where people can truly thrive.

Reporting to our Director, Diversity & Inclusion this role will:

  • Support the rollout of DEI initiatives across YJM, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and day-to-day operational needs.
  • Coordinate and monitor the Gender Equity Action Plan, while contributing to broader DEI plans that promote equitable access and inclusive practices.
  • Work in partnership with People & Culture to deliver DEI capability-building initiatives, including training, resources, policy development, EVP, employee experience, and community engagement activities.
  • Oversee DEI reporting requirements, including data collection, compliance obligations, and tracking progress to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Provide DEI insights and updates in relevant forums and undertake additional activities that support evolving organisational priorities and the successful delivery of DEI outcomes.

About you

This role requires someone with a strong delivery and implementation mindset, comfortable to challenge in a respectful manner but also cognisant of the point where consultation meets execution. In addition, we’d also like the successful applicant to present with:

· Demonstrated experience leading and coordinating D&I and culture change programs.

· Proven expertise in managing complex, large-scale diversity initiatives and driving real change within an organisation.

· Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills including the ability to work collaboratively across business and teams to deliver outcomes.

· Proven ability to develop strategic business cases while not afraid to get on with getting the job done.

The remuneration for the position is sitting around the $160k + super mark with some flexibility either side of that based on the experience you bring to the position.
