About The Role
Working closely with People & Culture, Finance and Operations, the Payroll Manager leads the ongoing maturity and sustainability of the payroll function. You will combine strategic oversight with operational leadership, mentoring your team, driving compliance, and serving as the organisation’s subject matter expert across payroll operations.
Based at our Clayfield Support Office, this permanent full-time role offers hybrid working flexibility after your initial onboarding.
What You Will Do
- Lead and mentor the payroll team, fostering a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement
- Own end-to-end payroll cycles with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement
- Champion the iChris platform: identifying gaps, driving system improvements and implementing best-practice workflows
- Lead payroll transformation initiatives and system upgrade projects as the resident subject matter expert
- Translate complex Award and Enterprise Agreement requirements into accurate, auditable system configurations
- Conduct regular compliance audits to uphold legislative standards and internal governance
- Serve as the key point of accountability for payroll governance, risk, and operational continuity across the organisation
- Partner with People & Culture and Finance on workforce matters and cross-functional payroll initiatives.
What You Will Bring
- Proven experience managing payroll in a complex, multi-entity environment
- Technical proficiency in iChris (highly desirable), with HumanForce experience also valued
- A hands-on leadership style: you know how to stabilise a team, drive accountability, and stay approachable all at once
- In-depth knowledge of the Fair Work Act and relevant payroll legislation
- A genuine track record of identifying and delivering payroll process improvements
- Advanced analytical skills and an uncompromising attention to detail
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and manage diverse stakeholder relationships
- Experience in healthcare or multi-award environments is highly regarded
