Six months ago, we opened the doors to our first-ever Merry People store in Melbourne CBD, and the response has exceeded anything we imagined. What started as a new chapter for the brand has quickly become a vibrant, community-led space full of connection, colour and plenty of merry moments. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for more passionate, kind and curious people to join the team.

At Merry People, we’re known for making boots that brighten people’s day, and our store is no different. As a Retail Assistant, you’ll be the face of Merry People, welcoming customers in, sharing product knowledge, and helping people find their perfect pair. Most importantly, you’ll help bring our values of Authenticity, Kindness, Adventure and Joy to life in every interaction.

Our story

Merry People began in 2014 when our founder, Dani, couldn’t find a pair of boots that were both weatherproof and stylish, so she designed her own. From grassroots markets to a growing global community, we’ve become a brand people love for quality, individuality, and optimism. This store is the next chapter in our story, and we’re excited to bring our community along with us, one great conversation (and one pair of boots) at a time.

What you'll be doing

• Provide warm, knowledgeable and joyful service to everyone who walks through our doors

• Support customers in finding their perfect style, fit and colourway — and maybe even matching socks!

• Help maintain a beautiful and tidy store environment

• Process transactions with care and attention to detail

• Restock shelves and assist with back-of-house tasks

• Be a team player, jumping in wherever needed and supporting your fellow Merry People

• Share feedback and customer insights with the broader team — we value your voice and perspective!

What we're looking for

• Some experience in retail, hospitality or customer service

• A love of people and a genuine desire to help others

• A positive attitude and willingness to learn — you don’t need to know everything, just be open to it!

• Good communication skills and a team-first mentality

• A passion for products with purpose and style

• Someone who embraces our values: authenticity, kindness, adventure and joy
