Project Controls Analyst

NES Fircroft have partnered with a premier Oil & Gas operator to recruit a Project Controls Analyst (Drilling & Completions) based in the Brisbane CBD. This is an great opportunity for an early career Project Controls professional looking to build experience within a major upstream energy environment, supporting drilling, completions, and brownfields project activities across a large scale portfolio. This role will commence on a 12 month initial contract, working Monday to Friday in Brisbane CBD.
Working within a collaborative Project Services team, you will support cost control, forecasting, reporting, procurement processes, and transactional activities across a variety of operational and project scopes.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Control & Forecasting
• Support development and management of project budgets and AFEs
• Monitor actual costs against forecasts and perform variance analysis
• Assist with monthly forecasting cycles and lifecycle cost reporting
• Review and interpret historical cost trends and project performance data
• Maintain cost databases and contract rate schedules
• Contribute to weekly and monthly reporting requirements
Transactional & Financial Support
• Process purchase requisitions and manage invoice workflows
• Support accruals and value of work done (VOWD) reporting
• Coordinate invoice approvals and liaise with vendors as required
• Ensure accurate cost coding and financial tracking across projects
• Assist with procurement and accounts payable activities
• Maintain adherence to project controls procedures and approval frameworks
About You
• Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business, Engineering, or a related field
• Experience using SAP or comparable ERP systems
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement ability
• High attention to detail with strong time management skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
• Collaborative, team focused approach
• Ability to work effectively in a fast paced project environment
Preferred Experience
• Up to 5 years experience in project controls, finance, cost control, or project support roles
• Exposure to forecasting, budgeting, invoicing, or transactional finance processes
• Experience supporting procurement and contracts functions
• Previous exposure to oil and gas, mining, energy, or major infrastructure projects highly regarded
