• Permanent full time position (35 hours) – Wednesday to Sunday work week

About The Role

As a Tree Investigations Officer, you will lead and support investigations into unauthorised tree and vegetation works across the local government area.

You will work at the intersection of environmental protection and regulatory compliance, ensuring adherence to relevant legislation while engaging professionally with the community.

Your Duties Will Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Lead investigations into unauthorised tree works, including rapid response to incidents and proactive compliance activities
• Enforce relevant legislation by issuing Penalty Infringement Notices, Orders and other regulatory actions
• Gather and analyse evidence to support investigations and determine appropriate enforcement outcomes
• Prepare legal documentation, including briefs, witness statements and case files for potential prosecution
• Engage with the community and stakeholders to ensure compliance and deliver environmental education
• Maintain accurate records and reporting, including tracking investigation outcomes and contributing to compliance programs

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

• Relevant qualifications in Arboriculture (ideally Level 5), Environmental Law or Law Enforcement
• Demonstrated investigative experience in environmental or regulatory compliance roles
• Strong knowledge and application of legislation, including the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act and Local Government Act
• Proven conflict resolution and stakeholder management skills in complex or high-pressure situations
• Ability to prepare legal documentation, including briefs and witness statements
• Current Class C Driver’s Licence
