Sales Manager

A fantastic full-time, permanent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Sales Manager to join our team at Porsche Centre Doncaster, part of Penske Automotive Australia.

This is a senior leadership role within a premium automotive retail environment, responsible for overseeing all sales operations across new and pre-owned vehicles, and driving the execution of the dealership's retail strategy. You will play a pivotal role in delivering strong commercial outcomes, developing high-performing teams, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience aligned with the Porsche brand.

Working closely with the Brand Manager, you will lead sales performance, optimise processes, and identify new business opportunities to support continued growth and success, including strengthening the dealership's pre-owned vehicle strategy and profitability.

Drive Sales Performance & Strategy

  • Lead and manage all retail sales operations across new and pre-owned vehicles to achieve and exceed targets
  • Develop and implement sales strategies aligned with dealership objectives
  • Drive pre-owned vehicle performance, including stock turn, margin optimisation, and sourcing strategies
  • Monitor sales performance, market trends, and competitor activity
  • Forecast product demand based on market insights and seasonal trends
  • Set internal sales targets and ensure alignment with manufacturer expectations

Oversee Operations & Inventory Management

  • Monitor inventory to ensure optimal new and pre-owned model mix, availability, and ageing control
  • Oversee pre-owned vehicle sourcing, appraisal, pricing, and reconditioning processes
  • Enhance showroom presentation, promotional activities, and sales processes
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet customer demand and productivity goals
  • Report regularly on sales performance to senior leadership
  • Support payroll and HR-related administrative requirements as needed

Customer Relationship Management

  • Deliver and promote exceptional customer service standards
  • Build strong relationships with new and existing customers
  • Maintain effective prospecting and customer follow-up systems
  • Strengthen the dealership's community presence and brand reputation
  • Ensure consistent and proactive customer engagement strategies

Financial & Business Management

  • Manage departmental budgets, expenses, and marketing spend
  • Drive achievement of KPIs and overall business profitability across new and pre-owned departments
  • Optimise pre-owned gross, stock turn, and working capital investment
  • Identify opportunities to improve performance and reduce costs
  • Ensure compliance with financial, legal, and company policies
  • Monitor risks relating to sales, customer, and operational activities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing sales team across new and pre-owned sales functions
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and performance-driven culture
  • Recruit, retain, and reward top talent based on merit
  • Drive continuous improvement in sales capability and customer experience
  • Support ongoing training, development, and certification of team members

Promote Safety & Compliance

  • Champion a strong "Go Home Safe" safety-first culture
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and company standards
  • Support continuous improvement across safety and operational practices
  • Ensure all documentation and processes meet compliance requirements

Support Business Excellence

About You

  • Proven experience in a Sales Manager or similar leadership role
  • Strong automotive technical knowledge and industry understanding
  • Demonstrated success in driving both new and pre-owned vehicle performance
  • Experience managing used car inventory, pricing, and stock turn highly regarded
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets and KPIs
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Highly organised with strong time management and problem-solving skills
  • A customer-first mindset with a passion for delivering excellence
